Government Grants Serrat The Great Cross Of Civil Order Of Alfonso X

The Government today awarded the Grand Cross of the Civil Order of Alfonso X the Wise to the 77-year-old singer-songwriter Joan Manuel Serrat , after the musician announced on December 1 that he was retiring from the stage .

This was explained today by the Minister of Territorial Policy and Government spokesperson, Isabel Rodríguez , at the press conference after the Council of Ministers, where she also explained that this recognition is granted at the proposal of the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training .

According to Rodríguez, Serrat has been awarded the Grand Cross of the Civil Order of Alfonso X the Wise for his “brilliant career and contribution to the arts . “

As Serrat announced, this farewell to the stages will be carried out with an international concert tour that will start on April 27, 2022 at the Beacon Theater in New York and will end on December 23 at the Palau Sant Jordi in his native Barcelona.

Close to 78 years old, Serrat has been traveling the world with his songs for more than half a century , during which time he has recorded more than 500 songs and more than 40 albums.
