Maduro Receives The Russian Vaccine
The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, received the first dose of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine this Saturday , along with his wife, Deputy Cilia Flores.
“I share the moment in which, together with Cilia Flores, we applied the first dose of Sputnik V. With this vaccine we have immunized a large part of our medical staff, and we prepare ourselves, adding other vaccines to protect all our people”, the president has indicated through the social network Twitter.
The head of state pointed out that at least 40 countries are using the Sputnik V vaccine, in a gesture of approval for the use of this drug, before denouncing that foreign governments have hijacked Venezuela’s resources for the purchase of vaccines.
“We made an agreement with the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) to release 300 million who have kidnapped us. But we are going to guarantee all vaccines to the people of Venezuela,” he said in an interview with TeleSur.
Maduro and his wife must receive within 21 days the second dose of Sputnik V, whose first shipment of 100,000 doses arrived in the Latin American country on February 13 for a total of 10 million that are expected to arrive in the country, after the signing of an agreement with the Government of Russia .
The Venezuelan Ministry of Health has confirmed the arrival of a second batch of 100,000 doses of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine, as it has shared on its Twitter account. This batch will be administered to health personnel who have already received the first dose.
Likewise, the Minister of Health, Carlos Alvarado, explained that this Monday the vaccination process will begin in the country with a batch of 500,000 Chinese Sinopharm vaccines destined for 250,000 Venezuelans, including health personnel and teachers, according to the newspaper. ‘The universal’.
